Sleep cool – sleep springs!
The latest research has shown once more that healthy and relaxing sleep requires approximately normal body temperature. As a matter of fact, foam mattresses in general heat up the body and often cause an unpleasantly warm sleeping experience. Follow the link below to read an interesting article by Leggett & Platt regarding this topic, which contains information about the research and findings mentioned. Science and the majority of consumers agree again on one thing: due to their optimum ventilation, large air compartments and accompanying air circulation, innerspring unit mattresses provide a cooler sleeping climate and thus enable a healthier, more relaxing night’s sleep as well as better hygienic conditions.
Often, mattresses are fitted with a top (mattress topper - pillow top, Eurotop) for additional comfort. The main filling material usually consists of foam/latex or viscoelastic foam, which after some time can develop “body dents” caused by body impressions. The average height of such tops is about 5-6 cm. In order to avoid these potential body dents, lowheight pocket innerspring units are increasingly used as the main filling material. A scientific study commissioned by Leggett & Platt shows in the overview below the percent of shape loss as compared to the original shape after a certain amount of time.

Latex, viscoelastic and polyurethane foams were compared in this study with low-height pocket springs (Leggett & Platt product name ‘Softech’) using a rollator test. The color bars indicate the different materials. The “5K” specifi cation (5000 rollator motions) corresponds to a load time of 6 months, “10K” corresponds to 1 year and “100K” simulates a load time of 10 years. The illustration impressively shows the large differences between the various materials and the unbelievable quality advantages of pocket innerspring units versus foam units. Wouldn’t you like to benefi t from these advantages as well, especially as they concern signifi cant quality and price benefi ts?
